Hard to believe, but the holidays are fast approaching, and that means it’s time for holiday shopping, Christmas cards, and, of course, gingerbread houses. The 15th annual National Gingerbread House Competition is today at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, North Carolina. After the judging, the Grove Arcade will display 40 gingerbread houses to be selected by The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa Floral & Visual Design Manager Joe Hughes. Click here to see one of the grand prize winners from a previous year’s competition!

I’ve been to this competition twice…and both times the houses were AMAZING! Trust me, these are not your grandmother’s gingerbread houses. They are literally works of art. If you happen to be in the area, you shouldn’t miss it.

We LOVE the National Gingerbread House Competition. This year we’re also going to catch one closer to home… There will be a Raleigh Gingerbread House Competition this year with significant prizes. The display will be open to the public throughout the holiday season.
