 Based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, HandMade in America works to develop community strategies that will enhance our region’s role, nationally and internationally, within the handmade field. They work to implement environmentally sustainable economic solutions that emphasize the craft industry, enhance opportunities in the marketplace, and develop entrepreneurial strategies for the region’s craft artisans.
While they don’t teach crafts-making, or make or sell objects, HandMade in America does serve as a support system for craftspeople and the craft industry. HandMade in America, from its inception, has promoted community tourism as an opportunity to build regional economic strength. They are developing trails, tours and adventures through initiatives that focus on bonding visitors with craft, people, and place.
Craft Heritage Trails and Farms Gardens & Countryside Trails are keys that will unlock the door to the lives of people who live and breathe, create and connect with the earth of Western North Carolina. They hold stories of people whose lives are colored by their art and whose art colors the lives of anyone who comes to know their work. And where are these people?
