Mast General Store
 Located in North Carolina’s first Rural Historic District of Valle Crucis, the Original Mast General Store was established in 1883. It grew in reputation all across the mountains as “the store that had everything.” Today, this window into yesterday still serves the rural community as a gathering spot with a corner post office, nickel cups of coffee, and goods that are as at home today as they were over one hundred years ago.The Mast General Store now calls several main streets in the mountains of North Carolina home – Boone, Waynesville, Hendersonville, and Asheville. Each location embodies the essence of that community and embraces the building’s particular history and architectural features. Inside you’ll find casual fashions, stylish yet comfortable shoes and hiking boots, quality outdoor gear, traditional housewares and old-timey toys, as well as a candy offering that’s been called “better than Halloween.” The customer service is reminiscent of a bygone era.
